About our puppy training and socialization

Our Breeding Program

At Sadies Doodles, we are committed to breeding healthy, happy puppies that make great family pets. Our breeding program is designed to produce puppies with excellent temperaments and conformation to the breed standard.

Behaviour Training

All of our pups start training at day 4, this is very important. First step includes handling pups on their back and playing with their feet. This tecnique is carried out everyday for the time they are here. It is done for a variety of reasons to turn your pup into a well rounded, confident but calm pup that is easy to handle.

Our pups are exposed to all different sites, sounds and textures to ensure their confidence.
Throughout the time the pups are with us we use a reward method to correct certain behaviours like biting and jumping etc. It is the responsibility of the new owner to carry out training to avoid regression.

Crate Training

Here at Sadie’s Doodles we believe in having a safe space for your new furry friend. Let’s face it, puppies are going to get into things if left unsupervised. This can not only be frustrating but harmful to your pup. We start slowly with crate training when the pups reach 6 weeks old. Each pup has their own individual crate and is placed in it starting with 1 hour at a time increasing daily. This is to help ensure that your pup is used to having their alone time and their own individual space. It is your choice to carry out this method at your home.

Potty Training

Starting at 5 weeks old, we begin potty training. This starts by directing them to a specific place to use the bathroom. As the pups get older they will graduate to outside. It is important to note that when your pup joins you, it may take a few days to learn their new spot in their new environment. Our potty training is a great start but needs to be carried out diligently at their new home.

Socialization With Other Dogs

It Is very important for puppies to socialize with other dogs. When they are new it is hard because you have to be careful which ones they are around until all of their vaccinations have been given. We are lucky at Sadies Doodles because we have our own pack of dogs that we know are happy and healthy. We ensure that all of the pups play with the older dogs as soon as they are able. Older dogs teach pups their limits and how to play appropriately. We start our pups at a young age to ensure you have no issues with aggression towards future pup friends. When your new pup joins you it is important to remember before ALL vaccines are given to stay clear of dog parks and anywhere there could be high traffic animal sightings. only choose to socializes with dogs you know are up to date with all vaccines as well as healthy.

Socialization With Humans

It is very important for puppies to be socialized with humans of all genders and ages. This is so they do not develop aggressive behaviour or meek behaviour towards any group of people. Here at Sadie’s Doodles we encourage a wide variety of visitors to come and handle and play with the pups starting at a very young age. This is to ensure they show no aggression towards any person and they do not have anxiety when you have visitors at your home.
